Brooklyn Building Collapse Lawyer

Queens Industrial Worker Attorney

The collapse of any structure — buildings, sidewalks, bridges or large equipment — is obviously very dangerous. People inside or near the collapse can be injured or even killed. Construction and industrial workers are at increased risk for these accidents. Emergency responders, including firefighters, police and emergency medical technicians, also have a higher risk.

If you or a family member were injured in a collapse, DeToffol & Associates may be able to help. We have extensive experience with injury and wrongful death cases involving structural collapse. Attorney David DeToffol uses his background in mechanical engineering to investigate the cause of the accident and build your case. When a Building Falls

Buildings collapse for many reasons, including faulty construction, earthquakes, fire or weather-related causes. When the internal load-bearing structures fail, the building collapses into itself, pulling exterior walls into the falling building. The roof or individual floors of a building can also collapse.

Workers, emergency responders and civilians can be injured in a building collapse. Just a few of the dangers of a building collapse are:

  • Fire
  • Electrocution
  • Exposure to hazardous materials
  • Natural gas leaks
  • Suffocation and asphyxiation
  • Slip, trip or fall hazards
  • Falling objects
  • Exposure to glass and debris

Equipment Collapse

Industrial and construction workers are also at risk for equipment collapses. Some of the most common injuries in these professions include being caught in or compressed by equipment, and caught in or crushed in collapsing materials. Crane collapses and scaffolding collapses are not unusual occurrences at work sites. An equipment collapse can cause:

  • Entrapment and suffocation
  • Broken and crushed bones
  • Amputations
  • Death

It is Important to Find the Cause of the Collapse

Isolating the mechanical failure or series of events that cause a collapse can be complicated. You need a lawyer who understands and has experience with these issues. Call David DeToffol at 212-962-2220 or send an e-mail today.
